The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has changed the data (personally identifiable data) sharing landscape through the notion of consent. At the same time, GDPR has provided data owners with more control over their data, but at the same time, it has posed significant challenges to industries, such as GDPR compliance verification. This has limited the potential that industries otherwise could have achieved, such as innovation. The project smashHit aims to solve this problem of data sharing based on two industrial use cases, namely, insurance and smart cities. My work on this project focuses on automatic contracting, which is the core component of smashHit. The work is also part of my PhD. You can read about the specifics of the task I am currently working on at Improving Decision Making Using Semantic Web Technologies.
